I'm currently selling my pottery through Capital Clay Arts on the West Side of Charleston. Most of what you see is stored at my home unless so noted on the listing. If you find an item of pottery on this site you like, send me an email at:
wvpotter@pbppottery.com
with type and item number and I will take it to Capital Clay Arts for you to view. No obligation to purchase until you can inspect the item.
Producing pottery was an item on my bucket list. It is something I wanted to pursue after college, but just did not have the guts to commit to it as a career. Thanks to Capitol Clay Arts reintroducing me to the joy and pleasure of creating functional pottery from a blob of clay I'm enjoying producing pottery again. My desire is to make pottery that can be used and not just take up shelf space.

All pottery is made with stoneware clay and all glazes are food safe.
In The Works:
This Fall I've been working on a line of animal and snow sports theme mugs. These mugs are created by applying a clay relief to the outside of a thrown mug.
Most of these mugs are single dipped in glaze, but I am in the process of hand painting some ski mugs.
The reliefs are created by first carving the desired design in the plaster, thereby creating what is known as a press mold. The, clay is pressed and rolled into the mold.to creat the relief. It is then removed, trimmed, and applied to the mug. Once a workable mold is created, the delicate part is trimming and applying the applica to the mug.
All the molds are carved using dremel and hand tools, though I cannot take credit for the original art. Most are from clipart sources.
